   Head of livestock = maximum number of single type, regardless of sex or age, at one time during the
last 12 months.

Only one application, per premises or property, per family owned land, per household, per business,
per application period is allowed.

Improve long term livestock husbandry and management capabilities and enhance farm safety

A. Eligible Items - Dairy, Beef, Goats/Sheep
    1. Head gate*
    2. Squeeze chute* (concrete to level)
    3. Carriage
    4. Palpation cage*
    5. Single animal scale (concrete to level)
    6. Multiple animal scale (concrete to level)
      Scales used for commerce must be state certified
    7. Hoof trimming table or chute
    8. Hay ring and/or cone insert
    9. Slant bar hay feeding wagon
    10. Pasture sprayers (must meet all of the following specifications to be eligible)
      a. Minimum tank capacity: 100 gal.
      b. Minimum pump output: 20 gal. per     minute
      c. PTO or hydraulically driven roller or     centrifugal pump
    11. Covered mineral feeders (stand alone and ground only) - insecticide and/or oil applicator combinations are not eligible
    12. Feed bins - min. bin capacity/4 dry tons, stationary only (concrete pad to level)
    13. Unload auger for feed bin (max. 29 ft. length)
    14. Creep feeder and/or panels
    15. Bunk feeders-concrete formed and/or steel (concrete to level)* plastic not eligible
    16. Automatic cube pellet feeders
    1. EID - portable and/or panel readers
    2. Headlock stanchions and/or palpation rails
    3. Tubular gates for Livestock Management only
    4. Portable corral panels* for Livestock Management only
    5. Holding chute/alleyway
    6. Crowding tub system*
    7. Loading chute*
    8. Curved or offset working chute
    9. Holding pen
      a. Requirements
         • Securely attached to a handling,
            working or loading system
         • Completely enclosed perimeter
           stand alone sides not eligible -
           see Ineligible item 7.

         • Maximum size: 30,000 sq. ft.

  o Items # 19 + 20
  o Alley panels*, Alley frames*
  o Rolling block doors, backstops, add-on alley           sheets
  o Wire stockade or bull panels (1 to 6 gauge)
  o Lumber - boards and/or posts
  o Metal posts - includes I-beams, piping and/or
  o Concrete for setting posts

B. Dairy Only Eligible Items - Dairy producers can also purchase items listed in section A

    1. Used equipment and used materials unless otherwise noted
    2. Labor of any type
    3. Electrical service – materials/labor
    4. Fuel
    5. Delivery charges
    6. Overhead coverings or roofing materials for working facilities equipment - See Livestock Working Facility Cover program
    7. Woven wire, barbed wire, high tensile,
      electric fence, or any stand alone fences
    8. Tanks
    9. Liquid handling systems
    10. Watering systems, fencing and high traffic areas - contact the Soil Conservation District office in your county to apply for cost share assistance on these practices

1 Water heaters must be capable of maintaining a water temperature of 165 degrees
2 Includes but not limited to automatic washer/sanitizing unit, clean in-place unit, washers, milker claws (units), vertical wash vat, monitoring systems
3 Milking equipment service contracts must be no longer than a 12 month period
4 Cow-side tests including incubator or heater block and test kits and subclinical mastitis detectors

Only items where (*) is indicated may be new or used. Used items must be:

  • In excellent working condition
  • No excessive rust
  • Functional soundness
  • Reasonable market price
