Berry's Chapel Utility, #11-00005

Berry’s Chapel Utility, Inc. notified the Tennessee Regulatory Authority that as of September 1, 2010, Lynnwood Utility Corporation, a wastewater disposal company operating in Williamson County, had been merged into Berry’s Chapel. It further contended that since Berry’s Chapel is a not for profit corporation, it is not considered as a “utility” under applicable law and thus the wastewater disposal operation is no longer subject to TRA regulation.

On January 10, 2011, The Tennessee Attorney General through the Consumer Advocate and Protection Division filed with the TRA a Petition for a Declaratory Order that Berry’s Chapel Utility, Inc. is a public utility under Tennessee law and that it should be regulated by the TRA...Berry's Chapel filings.


Chattanooga Gas Rate Review, Modification to Implement Decoupling, #09-00183

On November 16, 2009, CGC filed for an increase in the rates it charges consumers and for a modification of its rate design in order to implement a revenue decoupling mechanism. The rate request seeks an increase in natural gas rates that will bring CGC an additional $2.6 million annually. The revenue decoupling mechanism is sought by the company allegedly in the name of energy conservation and would “decouple” CGC’s revenues...Chattanooga Gas filings.


Tennessee American Water Rate Increase, #10-00189

On September 17, 2010, Tennessee American Water Company (TAWC), a public utility serving the water needs of 74,587 customers in the Chattanooga area and North Georgia, filed a petition requesting an increase of $9,984,463 million in revenues, which would result in an overall 27.66% revenue increase for residential, commercial and municipal customers. TAWC is regulated by the Tennessee Regulatory Authority. The request by TAWC included a projection of 11.5% return on its equity investment, which is a key figure used in setting the rate of return for the company...TAWC filings.
