The Department of Correction employs more than six thousand six hundred Tennesseans across the state. While correctional officer positions are the most common, the department is always looking for great nurses, probation/parole officers and administrators interested in the field of corrections.

Internships Available

The Tennessee Department of Correction now has academic, for-credit internships available for the summer. Applicants need to be juniors, seniors, or graduate students during the semester of the internship and must be able to pass a background and drug test.

Intern positions include the following:

- Correctional counselors in prisons

- Probation/parole officers in community supervisions district offices

- Business administration positions at agency headquarters in Nashville
