Discover Nursing

The Tennessee Department of Correction is looking for a few good nurses.  In fact, correctional medicine can be a truly rewarding career.  The department currently employs 12 nurse clinicians, 140 registered nurses and 250 licensed practical nurses who work diligently to save lives and maintain the health of over 19,000 inmates.

The TDOC offers a broad scope of medical services. TDOC nurses administer medication, work with chronically ill inmates, answer sick calls and conduct routine medical exams. They are also responsible for providing first aid/emergency care for employees, volunteers and visitors to the institutions.  As the inmate population ages, the need for trained nurses continues to rise.
