BCCX is located on approximately 2,500 acres approximately 15 miles from Pikeville. It is a level 3 facility with minimum to maximum custody levels. BCCX includes one maximum security unit, several medium units, a young adult component, a co-occurring component, an annex and a 300-bed women's unit.

BCCX offers academic programs which include GED and Adult Basic Education. Vocational programs are offered which include culinary arts, heating and air conditioning, carpentry, electronics, barbering, career development, woodworking, auto cad, auto body repair, small engine repair and cosmetology. Other programs offered include anger management, drug awareness, self awareness, family living, family life education, assertiveness, stress management and programs designed for self-improvement and re-entry into the community.

BCCX, in accordance with TRICOR (Tennessee Rehabilitative Initiative In Corrections) currently operates a 2,500 acre farm which produces milk, field crops for cattle and a tea operation.
