The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provides assistance to over seven million persons with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities. The majority of those persons can or will be able to perform a variety of jobs.
The Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) From the Heart of Tennessee program addresses the potential and capabilities of the persons it supports. Residents at the Division’s three developmental centers craft and produce a variety of products such as bird houses, greeting cards, dog treats and bath salts.
The residents’ fashion their products at adaptive work stations utilizing innovative and customized tools under the guidance of center staff. Their wares are sold at Tennessee State Parks and various businesses.
