Gov. Bill Haslam delivered his second State of the State address Monday, Jan. 30. During his speech, the governor emphasized the importance of Tennessee job growth, a continued focus on improving education, public safety, a more customer-focused, efficient and effective state government and keeping taxes low.

Nissan and Daimler will produce Mercedes-Benz 4-cylinder gasoline engines together at Nissan's powertrain assembly plant in Decherd, Tenn. Production will begin in 2014, with installed capacity of 250,000 units per year once full ramp-up is achieved. The Decherd facility will produce engines for Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti model.
Governor Haslam reacts to the announcement General Motors will invest $61 million to bring its idled Spring Hill assembly plant back to life Monday, Nov. 21l. The investment will create 594 hourly jobs and 91 salaried positions at the facility that will begin to produce the Chevrolet Equinox in 2012.
