Located near the geographic center of the U.S. population, the Northwest Tennessee region is globally linked by a vibrant combination of road, rail, air and water infrastructure assets. This region continues to be Tennessee’s breadbasket, with approximately 61.6 percent of the land in the region currently being used for agriculture.
Prior to being named regional director in June 2011, Swaggart served as a jobs development specialist for TNECD, successfully developing projects in Shelby, Lauderdale, Dyer, Lake, Obion and Tipton counties.
Before joining ECD in 1993, Swaggart worked as an economic development analyst with the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
Swaggart is a graduate of Georgia Tech Institute of Technology with a master’s degree in economics and planning and Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He also earned an economic development certification from the University of Oklahoma.
