As of June 30, 2008, Tennessee had 329 companies providing local telecommunications services in Tennessee including 27 incumbent providers (18 investor owned and 9 telephone co-operatives), 117 competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) and 185 resellers of local telephone services.
