End of Course Examination Changes for Core Math and Geometry

As Core Math and Geometry will no longer have end of course exams associated with them, they have been removed from the list of courses subject to TCA 49-6-6006. For more detail on this, please review this document.

Algebra I Employment Standards Training

Any teacher who teaches Algebra I at any grade level and has not passed the secondary math PRAXIS (test 0061 or 5161), must pass the middle school math PRAXIS (test 0069 or 5169) and attend the employment standards training to be in compliance with State Board Rule 0520-2-4.01(1)(c) and TN Code 49-6-6006.  There is currently one approved state training. The deadline to register for this training is Aug. 15, 2014. It will be offered mostly online with a few in-person meetings at MTSU.  Download the training registration form here. Any questions about the training should be directed to David S. Williams, mathematics coordinator of content and resources at David.S.Williams@tn.gov.

Call for Applications to Offer the Algebra I Employment Standards Training

Recognizing there have not been enough training offerings to meet the demand, the department is accepting applications for additional state-approved trainings. Applications can come from districts, institutions of higher education or outside organizations. Download the criteria and application here.  Applications are due Oct. 17, 2014 in order to offer training beginning in January.  Additional application opportunities will be available in the spring.
