January 2013

Dear Friends,

2012 was an eventful year for TDEC. Tennessee State Parks celebrated our 75th Anniversary with First Hikes, birthday cakes, a traveling exhibit, and a new micro-website on tnvacation.com. Gov. Haslam opened Tennessee’s newest state park at Cummins Falls in Jackson County, and the department launched innovative partnerships that promote sustainable practices and green initiatives for communities, businesses and state government, including the new Clean Tennessee Energy Grant program, the new Tennessee Green Star Partnership and the Tennessee Healthy Watershed Initiative. See these milestones and other TDEC highlights from 2012 in our Year in Review video. Watch video

The new year will present many opportunities for TDEC to fulfill our mission and make a positive difference for the citizens of Tennessee. We look forward to working with people and communities across Tennessee as we protect and improve our air, land and water; conserve and promote our natural, cultural and historic resources; while providing a variety of quality outdoor recreational experiences. Here’s to a meaningful, memorable 2013 for Tennessee and TDEC.

Sincerely,
