Boat Ramp Advisory: Due to renovation construction at Center Hill Dam and resulting lowered lake levels, please call the park office for most current status and availability of the boat ramps at the park.

Edgar Evins State Park is located on the shores of Center Hill Lake in the steep, hilly Eastern Highland Rim. The 6,000 acre park provides excellent recreational opportunities and accommodations on one of the most beautiful reservoirs in Tennessee.

Wildlife is abundant and includes three different owl species, numerous hawks and wintering bald eagles as well as the rare Cerulean Warbler, a summer resident of the park’s mixed hardwood forests, which include stands of Tulip Poplar, Oak, Hickory, Buckeye and Wild Cherry. An observation tower at the Visitor Center offers a spectacular view of Center Hill Lake and the surrounding hillsides.

Historical Significance

The Park was dedicated in 1975 and named for James Edgar Evins, a Dekalb County businessman and mayor of nearby Smithville. As a 2-term state senator, Evins was instrumental in the development of Center Hill Dam and Reservoir.

Conference Center and Meeting Rooms

Indoor meeting space is available in the Camper Registration Building. This building can accommodate 35 people and is handicapped accessible. It is free to suite guests, but outside parties may rent the building for a minimal charge. Reservations are required and are subject to availability.

Restaurant

The restaurant at Edgar Evins, the Galley, is located at Edgar Evins Marina. The Marina and restaurant are considered part of the park but are privately owned and operated. The restaurant is a seasonal operation. For hours of operation please call 931-858-2424.

Lodging

The park features a modern, 6 building lodging complex. Five buildings house 6 one-bedroom suites and one building houses 4 one-bedroom suites. Each suite can accommodate 6 adults and is completely equipped for housekeeping including linens, appliances and cooking and serving utensils. Edgar Evins State Park also offers 60 tent and trailer campsites with water and electrical hookups.
