The Division maintains lists of current public notices of permit applications, draft permits, public hearings, and rule-making activities. Public comment and participation are encouraged on all of these issues. Comments on any issue are welcome at any time and may be made by sending e-mail to ask.tdec@tn.gov.

Anyone wishing to be notified of public notices of permitting decisions, public hearings, and rule-making activities may request to be included on the Division's public notice mailing list.

Public notices are sent out twice per month.

Permit appeals are heard by the Water Quality Control Board. To be added to the sunshine notice list for Water Quality Control Board meetings, send your email address to James.P.Cromer@tn.gov. The sunshine notice is sent out at least monthly.

January 24, 2012 - Rulemaking hearing on March 20, 2012 in Knoxville, to receive comments regarding proposed rock harvesting rules.

December 20, 2011 - Public Notice of Rulemaking Hearing with the Secretary of State for revisions to Chapters 1200-4-3 and 1200-4-4, Tennessee's water quality standards. The public hearings will be on February 23, 2012 in Nashville on the 17th Floor of the L & C Tower at 1:00 and 6:30 CST/CST. Arrangements have been made for citizens to teleconference into the Nashville hearings at the following TDEC field offices: Memphis, Jackson, Chattanooga, Knoxville, and Johnson City. December 15, 2011 - Rulemaking Hearing on February 9, 2012, to receive comments regarding proposed changes to regulations under the “Tennessee Surface Mining Law of 1972” involving Chapters 0400-03-01 through 0400-03-12.

October 26, 2011 - Public hearing on December 1, 2011 to seek comments concerning an application for a state water quality permit from CPD Development, Inc.

August 22, 2011 - Public hearing on September 29, 2011 to receive comments on the proposed reissuance of an individual NPDES permit to Tansi Sewer Utility District in Cumberland County.

August 11, 2011 - Public hearing on September 19, 2011 to receive comments concerning the issuance of an NPDES permit for Kopper Glo Mining, LLC, Log Mountain Mine, TN0069361.

August 10, 2011 - Public hearing on August 25, 2011 to receive comments on the proposed NPDES Permit for USDOE-Oak Ridge Y-12 National Security Complex.

August 5, 2011 - Public hearing on September 13, 2011 to receive comments concerning the proposed issuance of an NPDES permit for Stones River Quarry, LLC, Site No. 1.
