Tennessee Statewide Drug Court Evaluation and Training Project
Tennessee received a competitive Statewide Drug Court Evaluation Grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). This grant provided support and assistance to Tennessee’s drug courts on reducing recidivism, program improvement, and providing cost-effective services. This was accomplished in three ways. Three drug court programs were selected to participate in an outcome evaluation and cost savings analysis using comparison groups, (see link below). A template was developed for drug court programs to calculate criminal justice cost savings so that they may share this information with community stakeholders to assist in demonstrating the benefits of their program, (see link below). Finally, a training for all drug court programs was developed and implemented based on the findings of each of the above activities.
