Effective October 1, 1981, aliens who apply
for Families First for the first time must have the income and resources of
their individual citizen sponsors considered in determining their eligibility
for assistance. The income and resources of the sponsor shall be considered for a
period of three years after the alien’s entry into the United States. An individual citizen is a person who signed an affidavit or other
statement accepted by INS as an agreement to support an alien as a condition
of the alien’s admission for permanent residence in the United States. |
