HUMPHREYS COUNTY CAREER CENTER OFFICIALLY DEBUTS

Waverly, Tennessee—It’s official! Humphreys County citizens now have a unique, multi-faceted workforce development career center. The new Tennessee Career Center Humphreys County, a partnership between Humphreys County, Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, the North Tennessee Workforce Board, and Workforce Essentials, offers employment assistance and employer business services to the Humphreys County community—all under one roof.

In a joint effort to become more convenient, state government agencies and workforce development service providers joined together to offer services to job seekers and employers – in one convenient location. The partnership was established as part of the Tennessee Career Center System, a broad workforce initiative to streamline the delivery of job training, recruitment and matching services offered by local, state and federal agencies to job seekers and employers.

“In the past, employment efforts have been too scattered and have too often left out the employer’s needs. The network of more than 100 Tennessee Career Centers across the state is changing that and provides one central place to meet employment needs,” said Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley. “We are proud the Humphreys County office and our partners that have come together to make things easier for both employers and job seekers.”

What makes the Career Center special, is its ability to offer assistance to both Humphreys County employers, and those looking for work. Local employers can utilize the Career Center to advertise job openings and recruit qualified personnel; pre-screen applicants; take advantage of available tax credits and other incentives; assess current employees’ skills; manage on-site interviews; assist in a layoff situation; and gain access to wage data and labor market statistics. The Career Center also serves as a ready resource for TN Drug Free Workplace Program & Testing Services and a variety of Employee Skills Training as well. The Center was constructed locally through the efforts of the Humphreys County government, led by County Mayor Jaycee Rawlings.

“The Humphreys County community, employers, and individuals now have a centralized location where they can easily access free employer or job seeker resources. We are proud to be a part of the Tennessee Career Center System,” stated County Mayor Jaycee Rawlings.

For those who are unemployed or ‘under’employed, the Humphreys County Career Center will offer FREE access to local job leads, resume' writing & Interview skills workshops, fully equipped computer resource center & job search assistance.

North Tennessee Workforce Board (NTWB) is a state certified organization, which operates as the local workforce investment board for the area encompassing Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, Montgomery, Robertson, Stewart, Sumner, and Williamson counties. Humphreys County Board Members are Carl Brazzle, Meriwether Lewis Electric Corp; Jimmy Long, Humphreys County School System; Wanda Rye, TN Dept. of Labor & Workforce Development; and Angie Stepp, Temple Inland.

WorkForce Essentials, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation providing training programs to businesses and opportunities for job seekers through its centers in nine Tennessee counties and at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
