NASHVILLE - Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley recently presented Modine Manufacturing Company of Lawrenceburg the Commissioner's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health. Neeley presented the award on July 28, 2004, at the 27th annual Tennessee Safety and Health Congress and Exposition held at the Opryland Convention Center in Nashville.

"This award represents an enormous accomplishment in workplace safety for Modine," said Neeley. "Employees have shown careful attention to safety and health concerns, as the award requirements are challenging."

The Commissioner's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health is given to Tennessee employers whose employees work a certain number of hours without having an injury resulting in days away from work. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company. Modine-Lawrenceburg recently worked seven months without a recordable injury in the workplace; that is an all-time record in 25 years of operation in Lawrenceburg; in addition the company has had nearly eight years without a lost-time accident.

Modine's corporate headquarters (NASDAQ: MODI) is located in Racine, Wisconsin. The company, which employs nearly 8,000 workers worldwide, specializes in thermal management, bringing heating and cooling technology to diversified markets. Modine's products are used in light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty vehicles, HVAC equipment, industrial equipment, refrigeration systems, fuel cells, and electronics. Modine's Lawrenceburg facility employs more than 200 people and produces aluminum charge-air coolers for heavy duty-trucks, aluminum oil coolers, and layered oil coolers for passenger cars and engine-cooling modules for heavy trucks.
