AUGUST COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATES
Rates show increases in 48 counties
NASHVILLE
- Tennessee's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for August 2004 of
4.9 percent, up from the July revised rate of 4.5 percent, was released
on September 16, 2004. County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates
for August 2004, released today, show that 48 counties increased, 42 counties
decreased, and five remained the same.
Williamson County registered the state's lowest county unemployment rate
at 2.8 percent, up from 2.4 in July. Haywood and Clay counties were the
state's highest at 13.1 percent. Haywood County was up from 11.1 in July,
and Clay County was down from 13.2.
Knox County had the state's lowest major metropolitan rate at 2.9, up
from 2.7 in July. Hamilton County was 3.6, up from 3.2 in July. Davidson
was at 4.0 percent, up from 3.5 in July, and Shelby County was 6.1 percent,
up from 5.5.
