Zachry
Construction Company Earns State Workplace Safety Award
NASHVILLE
- Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley recently
presented Zachry Construction Company of Old Hickory the Governor's
Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health. Neeley presented
the award July 28, 2004, at the 27th annual Tennessee Safety and Health
Congress and Exposition held at the Opryland Convention Center in Nashville.
"It is rare for a construction company to amass this kind of record.
This is the only construction firm among this year's recipients,"
said Neeley. "Achieving the required level of safety shows Zachry
is strongly committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. It's
a tribute to the company that its employees work to sustain such a notable
safety record."
The Governor's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety and Health is
given to Tennessee employers who meet the required number of hours during
a calendar year without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an
employee to miss a day of work or restrict his normal job activities.
The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
Zachry is the construction contractor at the DuPont - Old Hickory site.
The company has worked more than 7,812,000 man hours without a restricted
duty case and more than 1.7 million man hours without a lost-workday injury.
