SERVICES IN THE MAXIMUM SECURITY UNIT
The Forensic Services Program, at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute in Nashville, is the only maximum security mental health facility in Tennessee. FSP provides evaluation and treatment to defendants who cannot be managed safely in a regional mental health institute or individuals in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction who need treatment available in TDMHSAS that is not available in TDOC. FSP provides both pre-trial and post adjudication evaluation and treatment. Admissions to this facility occur only under T.C.A. Section 33-7-301 and –303 or transfers under Title 33, Chapter 3, Part 3 from regional mental health institutes.
