Notice of New Rules for the Tennessee Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers

Pursuant to Tenn. Code. Ann. § 4-3-1306(d), you are receiving this notice because you have elected to receive notification by e-mail of certain changes or potential changes to the law applicable to your profession.

The Tennessee Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers considered new rules at a Rulemaking Hearing conducted on September 21, 2012. These rules were filed with the Secretary of State on June 2, 2014. A copy of these new rules is available on the Secretary of State’s website at These rules will become effective on August 31, 2014.

The rules lower renewals fees, add requirements for apprenticeship quarterly reports, add a factor in the civil penalties rule, discuss requirements for a crematory and add two professional conduct rules.
