Do you need help setting up your account before you e-file for the first time?

Please follow these steps to file your sales and use tax return and make a payment through Revenue's website. Click the link to view the directions for each step.

1. Establish a Tax Account

Before you can file your sales and use tax return and make payments throught the Department of Revenue's website, you must first establish a tax account. Click here to register your business. If you are unsure whether you have an existing tax account number, please call the Department of Revenue for assistance.

2. Obtain a User Name and Password

Your next step is to obtain a user name and password. This will allow you to file your return and make payment while protecting the privacy of the information you provide. To obtain your user name and password, go to the TN.gov Account Management website.

3. File Your Return

Once you have your user name and password, you are ready to file and make payments through the Sales and Use Tax Online Filing Website. Instructions, tips and answers to frequently asked questions about electronic filing are also available on this site.
