AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-11-201, relative to revising definitions concerning residents and licensure of certain homes for the aged.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-11-201(13), is amended by deleting the first sentence of subdivision (B) in its entirety.
SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-11-201, is further amended by deleting item (14) in its entirety, and by substituting instead the following definition:
(14) "Home for the aged resident" means a person who is ambulatory and who requires permanent, domiciliary care but will be transferred to a licensed hospital, a licensed assisted living facility, or a licensed nursing home when health care services are needed which must be provided in such other facilities.
SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-11-201 (13)(A), is amended by inserting the word "primarily" between the words "accepts" and "aged" in the first sentence.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
