1. What happened?
TennCare had a problem with a corrupt computer file. It matched up wrong addresses to some TennCare enrollees so some of their letters were mailed to the wrong address. TennCare has already corrected the addresses in the system and they've remailed the letters to the right addresses. If you were affected by this you will get a letter from TennCare that tells you more. Only a very small percentage of TennCare enrollees had information sent to the wrong address. TennCare provides health care to more than 1.2 million Tennesseans. Only about 3,900 enrollees had information mailed to an incorrect address.
2. Was my information mailed to a wrong address? How will I know if I am part of this group?
If you are affected, TennCare will send you a letter that tells you about it. The letter will also tell you what kind of credit monitoring services will be available to you. You can also call the Kroll Fraud Solutions call center at 1-877-309-0010. They will know who has been affected. Only a very small percentage of TennCare enrollees had information sent to the wrong address.
3. What kind of credit monitoring will I get?
Affected enrollees will be offered free identity theft safeguards for one year. This includes credit monitoring, fraud investigation, and credit restoration services. You will be notified by mail if you were affected. This mailing will include the type of credit monitoring service being offered.
4. What is TennCare going to do to fix this?
TennCare has corrected all of the addresses in the system, and they have remailed all letters to the correct address. If your information was mailed to a wrong address, TennCare will send you a letter that tells you about it and what you can do. TennCare has also worked out a plan to help prevent this from happening again.
5. When will TennCare let me know if my information was mailed to a wrong address?
TennCare plans to mail information to affected enrollees the week of February 22, 2010.
6. Is it safe for me to wait until TennCare lets me know? What should I do right now?
