A computerized drawing takes place during the application period for duck blind sites for Bogota & Thorny Cypress WMAs.
Hand drawings for vacant pools for Bogota & Thorny Cypress WMAs will be held every Monday at 6:00 PM local time, if there are vacancies for the indicated weekend during waterfowl season.
Any violation of rules and regulations will result in prosecution and cancellation of the hunt.

Bogota WMA. Traveling North on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 7 miles, turn left on the second gravel road (Bledsoe Rd) after crossing the Obion River. Pool 2 will be on the left in 0.3 Miles.

Pool 2 is a 13 acre impoundment located on the north side of Bogota WMA. There is approximately 10 acres of good quality corn planted in this pool and 3 acres of good to excellent quality moist soil plants. Willow trees along the north and western edge and standing corn provide hunting cover in this pool.

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles . Turn left on Hwy. 103 and travel about a mile. Turn left onto Barbwire Rd. follow Barbwire for 0.9 miles, turn left and proceed through red gate for 0.3 miles, Pool 4 will be on the right.

Pool 4 is a 15 acre impoundment located on the north side of Bogota WMA. There is approximately 10 acres of corn planted in this pool that is fair in quality. There is a clump of trees in the middle of the pool that contains an old cinder block blind. Standing corn and willow trees along the north and eastern boundaries provides additional hunting cover in this pool.

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles . Turn left on Hwy. 103 and travel about a mile. Turn left onto Barbwire Rd. for 1.6 miles. At the T make a left. Proceed though the red gate, Pool 7 will be on your right in 300 yards.

Pool 7 is a 25 acre impoundment located on Bogota WMA. This pool has 15 acres of good quality moist soil plants, a 4 acre block of poor quality corn on the east side of the unit. The willows along the west side of the unit provide hunting cover in addition to cover in the standing corn.

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles . Turn left on Hwy. 103 and travel about a mile. Turn left onto Barbwire Rd. Travel approximately 2.3 miles, until you see pool 12 and Pool 14 signs. Turn Right on Sycamore Rd., in 400 yards make a left on a gravel rd. (Look for pool 12 signs). Parking area for Pool 12 will be on the left down 400 yards. The pool is directly behind the parking area.

Pool 12 is a 40 acre impoundment located on Bogota WMA. This pool has 20 acres of fair to good quality corn, 3 acres of good quality moist soil plants. There will also be 15 acres of harvested soybeans flooded when the unit is at full pool. There are willows on both the west and east side of the unit that offer hunting cover in addition to cover provided by standing corn.

Pool 14 is a 20 acre impoundment located on southwestern corner of Bogota WMA. It is 600 yards southwest of Pool 12 and 300 yards north of the Obion River. This pool has excellent quality moist soils, however hunting cover is sparse. Hunters should be prepared to use layout blinds or layout boats or construct temporary blinds.

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles . Turn left on Hwy. 103. Turn onto Barbwire Rd. for 1.6 miles. At the T make a right on Spence Spur Rd. Pool 21 will be on your left in 0.8 miles. The parking area for Pool 21 will be the northeast corner of the pool or along the county roads which boarders the pool on the north and east sides. The county road along the eastern boundary may not be passable during wet weather.

Pool 21 is a 50 acre impoundment located on Bogota WMA. There is approximately 35 acres of corn planted in this pool that varies in quality from fair to good. There are 10 acres of moist soil plants in the lower elevations. Standing corn provides the only hunting cover in this pool.

Pool 1 is comprised of two impoundments totaling 40 acres separated by a gravel road. Hunters drawn for this pool may hunt both impoundments. The north impoundment has 12 acres of good quality moist soil plants and the south unit has 4 acres of poor corn and 20 acres moist soil plants ranging in quality from fair to poor. Pool 1 is the easiest pool to access on Thorny Cypress, hunters can drive directly to the pool.

Thorny Cypress WMA North Unit. From Great River Road turn onto Boothspoint Rd. Turn left in 1.1 miles and proceed north a half mile to parking area. Follow signs from parking area to pool. Pool 2 is approximately 600 yards northwest from parking area. Hunters may walk or use ATV’s to access pool.

Thorny Cypress Pool 2 is a 70 acre impoundment with 10 acres corn (ranging in quality from poor to good), 10 acres harvested beans and the remainder of the pool is in fair quality moist soil plants. There are willows and cottonwood trees on the south side of the impoundment that hunters can use for cover in addition to the standing corn.

Pool 3 is a 30 acre impoundment located on the Thorny Cypress WMA. There are 3 acres of fair quality corn planted in the center and an additional ½ acre strip planted along the south side to add additional hunting cover. There are also 18 acres of moist soil and 10 acres of harvested beans that will be flooded.

Pool 4 is a 35 acre impoundment with good quality moist soil grasses. There is a line of 20ft tall trees running through the impoundment that will provide hunting cover in addition to taller grass on the edge of the impoundment. A ½ acre block of corn has been planted on the south end to add additional hunting cover. Part of the harvested bean field to the west of the pool will also be flooded.

Pool 8 is a 40 acre impoundment with 12 acres of standing corn ranging in quality from fair to poor. There are two acres of harvested beans that will be flooded and the remainder of the impoundment is in moist soil plants. A two acre section of the east side of this impoundment is over 5 foot deep when at full pool.

Pool 9 is 0.7 miles north east of the parking from can be accessed with ATV or by walking.

Pool 9 is a 50 acre impoundment located on the southeast side of Thorny Cypress. There are 40 acres of moist soil plants ranging in quality from fair to good, 3 acres of standing corn and 5 acres or harvested soybeans on the shallow east side. Hunting cover is limited to a few trees on the west and southeast side and standing corn near the middle of the impoundment. A “T” shaped ditch on the west side of the impoundment is over 5 feet deep when unit is at full pool.
