Agricultural Crime Unit
The Agricultural Crime Unit investigates wildfire arson, livestock theft, farm crimes, and criminal activities on state forest lands. The Ag Crime Unit also enforces laws and state regulations related to the movement of animals, animal and plant diseases, use of state forest and various activities of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.
The Ag Crime Unit is recognized statewide for its expertise and innovation in wildfire arson investigation. Tennessee experiences more than 2,000 wildfires per year. Nearly 40% of the fires are arson cases that fall exclusively under the investigation of the Ag Crime Unit.
