Position Description:       

The role of the strategic initiative content creator will be to support the communications team in content creation related specifically to the student-readiness priority, collaborate with communications and engagement team and division leadership to operationalize the methodology and emphasis of a communications campaign for department initiatives related to student readiness.  

 

Specific Position Responsibilities:

·       Provide support to the communications team in content creation related specifically to student-readiness

·       Collaborate with the communications and engagement team as well as  division leadership to effectively communicate campaigns for department initiatives related to student readiness

·       Support in developing regular messaging and communications with the student-readiness priority in mind including digital newsletters, social media content, other written communications- related to all department initiatives related to student-readiness for a variety of audiences and stakeholders, including districts, schools, educators, families, businesses, philanthropists, nonprofits, and elected officials;

·       Collaborate with teams and offices across department to create and execute communications campaigns related to their respective strategic department initiative (student-readiness)

·       Provide support and communications review for division related to respective department strategic initiative to ensure consistency and excellence

·       Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or policy
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in U.S. education policy
  • Strong strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • A minimum 2 years’ experience in communications work in a fast-paced, policy-based agency.
  • Ability to present complex policy, legislative, and quantitative information clearly to stakeholders of all levels.
  • Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative, strong project management skills

Travel 
Minimal travel around the state and to limited national meetings and conferences may be required (~5-10%).
