Science Standards Training
In the 2018-2019 school year, Tennessee schools will implement and assess the new Tennessee Academic Standards for Science. The department is excited to offer differentiated training and support for districts, school leaders, and teachers around the new Science standards. All trainings will include face-to-face components as well as virtual materials to support differentiation and ongoing collaboration and learning.
Districts will be asked to bring one team of up to four members to begin planning for standards roll-out in the 2018-2019 school year. This training will provide a broad overview of the new Tennessee Academic Standards for Science and will deliver content based on how districts can best support their schools and educators.
We recommend a four-person team from each district. This team should include a district-level curriculum and instruction leader, a science content leader, an instructional coach, and a school leader. Each district should send at least one representative that can make actionable decisions regarding training and implementation for the district.
Materials will be available by mid-December.
