Hazardous Waste Inspector Training (HWIT)

HWIT Program

The Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) recently implemented a statewide hazardous waste inspector training (HWIT) program for our hazardous waste inspectors. This training program assesses training needs, establishes organizational training objectives, develops resources and training action plans, and implements statewide training initiatives. The training aims for excellence in compliance evaluations including the development of guidance to promote statewide consistency in the inspection process and in regulatory interpretation. Additionally, the HWIT program works to streamline the inspection process to integrate better data management systems to establish a program that is sustainable.
