Tennessee's budget process begins in August of each year when the Commissioner of Finance and Administration issues budget instructions to all departments and agencies of state government. One-time grants to local governments for the purpose of IT hardware upgrades, capital maintenance, utility system upgrades, road projects, public safety, and school construction/renovation. Local jurisdictions will receive a direct appropriation letter via email from the department of Finance and Administration no later than July 31, 2021.
