Deputy Commissioner Lesley Farmer and Five Department Representatives Appointed to 2018 TNCPE Board of ExaminersTennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) calls on Department of Human Resources to drive performance excellence in Tennessee
Nashville, TN – Lesley Farmer, Deputy Commissioner and General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Human Resources (DOHR), has been appointed to the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) 2018 Board of Examiners. Along with Farmer, five additional DOHR representatives will serve on the board, including Chief Strategy Officer Amanda Kerns, Employee Relations Administrator Coretta Young, Director of Quality Assurance and Records Management Steve Brown, Organizational Performance and Data Management Assistant Director Korry Rahn, and Employee Relations Administrative Services Assistant Prachi Patel.
As members of the TNCPE Board of Examiners, the DOHR representatives will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating organizations that apply to the TNCPE Award Program which recognizes local, state and regional organizations that demonstrate excellence in business operations and results.
The DOHR representatives will join over 150 TNCPE Board of Examiners who are experts from all sectors of the regional economy, including health care, service, nonprofit, manufacturing, education, and government. All members complete extensive training in the Baldrige Excellence FrameworkTM, a nationally recognized, systems approach to organizational performance. This framework evaluates all of an organization’s components (leadership; strategy; customers; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; workforce; operations; and results) as a unified whole, so that plans, processes, measures, and actions are consistent.
Each year, the TNCPE Board of Examiners contributes more than 10,000 hours of volunteer service to organizations across Tennessee. In turn, examiners use expertise developed during TNCPE training and assessments at their own jobs, benefiting and improving organizations from within and working to achieve TNCPE’s mission: To drive organizational excellence in Tennessee.
Established in 1993 as a public-private partnership, the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence strives to promote economic development and drive organizational excellence by helping companies and organizations grow more competitive in today’s global marketplace through affordable, in-depth assessments. A regional nonprofit, TNCPE is grounded in the Baldrige Excellence Framework—a holistic framework used by organizations across multiple industries to improve their performance and achieve sustainable results. More than 1,300 organizations have participated in and benefited from the TNCPE program. Five Tennessee businesses— Bristol Tennessee Essential Services, Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation, Pal’s Sudden Service, Eastman Chemical Company, and Federal Express—have received both the prestigious Baldrige National Quality Award and the TNCPE Excellence Award.
