Colonel Thomas W. von Weisenstein

Colonel Thomas W. von Weisenstein was assigned to serve as the Chief of the Joint Staff, Tennessee National Guard in October 2016.  He is responsible for the manning, training, and supervision for the Soldiers and Airmen assigned to the Adaptive Battle Staff.  In the event of catastrophic disasters within the state, the Battle Staff is charged with the responsibility of providing directed response to civilian organizationHe received his commissioned from the ROTC at the University of Tennessee on 12 May 1989.  He joined the Tennessee Army National Guard upon commissioning as an Ordnance Officer.COL von Weisenstein served in various staff and leadership assignments within the Tennessee Army National Guard and the National Guard Bureau in Washington DC.  His previous assignments as Director of Logistics G4, Counterdrug Coordinator, Deputy J4; Battalion Commander, 176th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion; Chief, Combat Service Support Branch, Force Management Division, Army National Guard Readiness Center; Battalion Team Chief, Combat Service Support Embedded Training Team, OEF IV; Logistics Staff Officer, HQDA-G4, Pentagon; Logistics Staff Officer, Logistics Division, Army National Guard Readiness Center.
