Archived Educator Prep Report Cards

Every year since 2007, the state of Tennessee has published a report card evaluating the progress of educator preparation programs across the state on key state priority areas. For the 2016 report card, the State Board led a redesign process that included opportunities for stakeholder input to create a clearer, more detailed picture of the state’s educator preparation efforts.

Since 2016, the State Board has continued to make improvements each year based on feedback from education preparation providers, school districts, legislators, and other community members. The State Board is committed to continuous improvement in the process of producing the annual Educator Preparation Report Card.

Updates for the 2021 Report Card include redesigned employment maps to better illustrate educator placement and new sorting options for academic, occupational, and school services personnel programs. Due to the lack of teacher evaluation data from the 2019-20 school year and the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on public schools during the 2020-21 school year, EPPs did not receive an overall rating this year.

In previous years, EPPs received an overall rating based on their performance in the Report Card's scored domains. Due to the lack of teacher evaluation data from the 2019-20 school year, EPPs are not receiving an overall rating this year.

For the 2019 edition of the report card, the State Board of Education has launched two new domains: program completer satisfaction and candidates’ pass-rates on licensure assessments. Based on feedback from educational stakeholders, the Board moved from the 1-4 scale used in previous years to new benchmarks of "Meets Expectations", "Does Not Meet Expectations", and "Exceeds Expectations".
