TennCare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Provider Incentive Payment Program
The EHR Provider Incentive Payment Program began in 2011 as the result of the HITECH Act, which was a part of the American Re-Investment and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009. By that same act, PIPP ended with final payments being made on or before December 31, 2021. However, post-payment audits will continue through September 30, 2023. If you have a question about an audit finding or wish to appeal an audit decision, please select “Program Integrity & Audit” in the left column for additional information.
If you received a 1099 from the State of Tennessee and don’t understand why, please select “Why did I get a 1099?” in the left column for an explanation.
If you have a question, you can still send an email to TennCare.EHRIncentive@tn.gov.
For 11 years, it has been our pleasure to work with Eligible Professionals and Eligible Hospitals in advancing EHR technology across Tennessee. We understand it was a difficult process for some and shared your frustration at times. It remains an ongoing process. Those who are also MediCARE providers are still required to submit data to CMS through your certified EHR technology (CEHRT) system. TennCare does not currently have plans to gather information through CEHRTs. Of course, CMS could change our mind.
